Club Notes 12 – 18 Dec 2005
Christmas Party in The Bell this Thursday at 9.30. All players, mentors and parents very welcome. Well done to Barbara O’Neill, Castleknock’s first elected member onto the County Executive! AGM – get your nominations & motions back to the Secretary ASAP. Forms can be downloaded from www.castleknock.net. AGM is on 13 January with Juvenile AGM being held on 10 January 2006. Well done to U14 boys and girls who both had good wins over Ballyboden St Enda’s at the weekend. Congrats to our Scór Ballad Group who reached the Leinster Final which will be held in Ballinakill, County Laois in the new year, ring Barbara at 086 378 2419 for further information. Club Notes 5 – 11 Dec 2005
Well done to Catherine Troy and friends on organizing another fantastic childrens Christmas Party. Thanks to Castleknock Community College for the use of their
hall. The u14 footballers beat Crumlin and the u13 boys lost to St.Maur’s in two rescheduled games. The club A.G.M will be on Friday 13th of January in Castleknock Hotel and Country Club. All motions and nominations are expected to be with Secretary Vivian Peelo as soon as possible. Juvenile A.G.M will be held upstairs in Kavanaghs on Tuesday 10th of January. On Thursday 22nd of December the Christmas Party will be held in The Bell. There was no winner of the Lotto last Thursday. This week’s draw will be held in Myos with a top prize of 4,600 euro.
Club Notes 28 Nov – 4 Dec 2005
A selection of our -12 footballer’s enjoyed a trip to Killoe Emmets of Longford on the weekend. A full attendance is expected for the last juvenile meeting of the year this Thursday at 9.00pm. The last nursery of the year will also be taking place on Saturday morning. The Christmas party will be held for the nursery section to u10 age groups in Castleknock Community College at 2.00pm this Saturday. Hard luck to the adult footballers who lost the league semi-final playoff to Ballyboden St.Enda’s on Sunday morning. Well done to all involved on a great year. There was no winner of last week’s lotto, which was in The Carpenter. This Thursdays draw will be in the Bell with a top prize of 4,000 euro. Club Notes 21 – 27 Nov 2005
The Junior ‘A’ footballers had a good victory away to Lucan Sarsfields and the minor boys traveled to St. Mary’s of Leixlip for a useful friendly. The only competitive juvenile game played was the U12B’s versus Scoil Ui Chonail where our boys suffered their first defeat in seven outings. The children’s Christmas party is on December the 10th. Great work has been done in the local schools with Castleknock Community College having won their first ever hurling title and their U18 and U16 footballers in contention for honours. Also, Scoil Olibheir, St.Mochtas and St.Brigid’s Castleknock are all in with a chance of glory. All mentors should get their Hurlathon cards back A.S.A.P. CHFC 2006 Calendar available now in Club shop. Ideal Christmas present. There was no winner of last week’s lotto which was in Brady’s. This Thursday’s draw will be held in The Carpenter with a top prize of €4,200. Commiserations to the O’Meara family on the death of Mrs. O’Meara’s Father.
Club Notes 14 – 20 Nov 2005
Last Sunday, Castleknock Hurling and Football Club travelled in force to tackle hosts Erins Isle in the much anticipated Hurlathon, which was a brilliant success. Many thanks Fran Lawlor, Peter Williams and Sheila Finnegan of Isles, the mentors and the County Board for their assistance. Well done to all our teams who competed superbly. Congrats to Isles, first winners of the beautiful perpetual trophy. The Junior A footballers beat Fingallians at home, but the B side went down to Champions Round Towers of Clondalkin. The U9s played four good games versus Na Fianna, the U10s challenged Ashbourne and St. Finnians of Swords, and the U12As lost to Clontarf. The U12Bs beat Raheny and the U14s were too good for St. Marks. James Shannon won the young hurler award in Laurel Lodge at our great Sunday morning session. Well done James. Congrats to our ballad group who have reached the Leinster semi-final of Scór na nÓg on Saturday December 3rd, Leixlip GAA, 3pm. All support welcome! Club Notes 7 – 13 Nov 2005
Well done to Mags Heelan, mentors, parents and particularly the children who made our first ever bag packing weekend a great success. Many thanks to the manager and staff in Tesco of Roselawn. A somewhat depleted U12 ‘A’ lost their football semi-final to Raheny. The U12 ‘B’s beat Naomh Mearnog and the U10’s got the better of Donaghmore, Ashbourne. The U9’s beat St. Sylvester’s away and the u14’s were too strong for Crumlin. All other games including all adult fixtures were called off due to pitch conditions. Next weekend is the long awaited ‘hurlathon’ against Erin’ Isle. (The Longest 7 a-side hurling game of the year) An all day affair, held in the excellent Finglas facilities. Get your sponsor cards back to your mentors A.S.A.P. Best of luck to all of those taking in the semi-finals of Scor na nÓg on behalf of the Club this week. Club Notes 31 Oct – 6 Nov 2005
Next weekend is bag packing weekend in Tesco, Roselawn. Your support will be appreciated for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The junior ‘A’ footballers came from eleven points down at half time to draw the game with a last minute equalizing goal, away to Man o War on Sunday morning.
In the afternoon the junior ’B’s continued their drive towards promotion with a seven point victory over O’Dwyer’s in Balbriggan. The u10 and u11 boys welcomed Drumlane of Cavan to Tir Na N-og on Saturday morning while the u9 boys got the better of Scoil Ui Chonaill. This years Scor starts in St.Mark’s of Tallaght on Monday 14th of November atvc7.30pm. All details are available on the club web-site. Hurlathon cards are being distributed. Please return them A.S.A.P. There was no winner of last week’s lotto, which was held in The Carpenter. This week’s draw will be in The Bell.

The u10 boys played two great games against visitors St.Judes and the u8 lads traveled to Ballymun to tackle the local Kickham’s. Well done to the U10 girls who played very well in a blitz in Portlaoise. There was no winner of the club lotto which was in Brady’s. Thursdays draw will be in The Carpenter. Congratulations to former footballers Michael Brady and Rory Doogan who both got married to lucky ladies last weekend. We would like to offer our condolences to Joe Coyle and family on the sudden death of his brother Patrick, and to the Stewart family on the death of Mrs. Stewarts mother Cathleain Carton.
Club Notes 17 – 23 Oct 2005
Our u13 hurlers lost their championship final to Raheny last Saturday. It was a good competitive game with a final scoreline of 4:08 to 5:09. The u10 footballers played a series of games against Ballymun Kichams and the u13 girls beat Kilmacud Crokes. Both the football and the hurling nurseries were hopping at the weekend. Many thanks to St.Margaret’s who provided the opposition for a friendly against our ‘A’ Junior footballers and to Lucan Sarsfields who played our ‘B’ team, both on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday the 20th of November Erin’s Isle are providing the facilities for a day long Hurlathon between the two clubs. This will be a sponsored event and hopefully will provide much needed funds and promises to be a lot of fun for the juvenile section. There was no winner of Thursday’s lotto. This week’s draw will be held in Brady’s. A full attendance is expected for the juvenile meeting at 9p.m this Thursday.

Hard luck to the Junior Hurlers who lost to St. Vincent’s by a goal in the semi-final of the Championship, also to the minor footballers who went down to St Brigids after a titanic struugle in Porterstown.Score 3-6 to 1-9. The U12 hurlers won our first ever county juvenile A title when they beat Ballyboden St Enda’s in a brilliant game on Saturday morning. This was a very notable success.Also the U13 boys won their hurling semi-final with a victory over Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh. The U12B boys lost to St Judes A, and the U11 hurlers had a good victory away to St Finnians, the U10 hurlers were too good for St Brigids. Well done to Martin Cleary and the U9 mentors who brought all the U9 boys down to the rebel county to tackle the famed Na Piarsaigh Club – What a great trip was had by all!! We offer our condolences to the Hughes family on the death of Mrs. Hughes father George McGeer. There was no winner of Thursdays lotto which was in the Bell. This week’s draw will be in Myos. Our first big Football Championship title was won on Sunday when our Junior A Footballers beat Trinity Gaels. Well done to all the panel and management team. The U12A beat Ballymun and the 12B’s beat Raheny B. U11’s beat Parnell and U10 shared the spoils with Plunketts. The U9’s played 3 great games against Whitehall Colmcilles. The U14 footballers lost to St. Finbars by a point. Both U10 Camogie teams had victories over Plunketts, Crumlin, Na Fianna, Setanta & Erin’s Isle. The U12 girls had wins over Scoil Ui Chonaill in the Championship and Craobh Chiarain in the Sheild. Next weekend our Junior Hurlers play Vincents in the Championship Semi-Final. The Minor Footballers play St. Brigids in the Championship on Sunday. The U12a hurlers play Ballyboden in the League Final and the U13 hurlers play in their semi-final. Hard luck to the Junior Hurlers who were beaten in the League Final by Cuala and also to the Minors who were beaten by Peregrines in the Championship. Best of luck to our Junior Footballers in the Championship Final next Sunday in Parnell Park. Throw in at 2.30. All U8, U9 and U10 hurlers did very well in their respective blitzes over the weekend. The U12a Hurlers can now look forward to the League Final after beating Skerries Harps. The U7 footballers had a fruitful visit to our near neighbours Saint Peregrines on Saturday. On Saturday our U10 girls beat Foxrock/Cabinteely. Juvenile meeting on Thursday at 9pm. All roads lead to Parnell Park this Tuesday eve for the Junior Football Semi-Final against St Finians in Parnell Park. Throw in at 7pm. Large Club support expected. Well done to the Minor Hurlers who battled hard to snatch a draw against St. Peregrines in the Championship. Our injury depleted U15 footballers lost to Thomas Davis in the Championship. The U14 footballers beat Ballyboden St. Enda’s. U13 boys beat Erin’s Isle in the League in Porterstown and both U12 football teams had victories over Vincents and Naomh Barrog. Many thanks to the famous Mayobridge Club Co Down who hosted a 100 of our young footballers and parents on Saturday. Great time was had by all. U10 hurlers beat Thomas Davis, u11s drew with Peregrines, u12A’s lost to Ballyboden but the u12B’s had a great victory away to Faughs hurling Club. U13 boys beat Olafs in the Championship. The injury depleted u15 boys lost to Clann Mhuire of The Naul. Thanks to Ballyboden St Endas for travelling over on Saturday evening for a minor hurling friendly and also thanks to their u10 girls who beat us in football. Club Notes: 5 Sept – 11 Sept 2005
On Wednesday last our u15 Hurlers beat Faughs in a winner takes all Hurling League Final game. Well done to all on a great victory. Final score 3.11 to 3.07. On Saturday the u14 footballers won the County B Championship Final on a scoreline of 5.05 to 2.08 against the gallant Naomh Fionbarra. The u10 footballers beat Skerries, the u11s beat St Finians, the u12As got the better of Na Fianna, the B’s lost to the Glasnevin boys and u13s lost to Good Counsel. On Saturday evening the Junior A footballers drew away to Colmcilles of Swords. The Junior Bs had a good win on Sunday against Naomh Barróg. Also on Sunday morning the Minor Boys had a 2.11 to 1.06 victory in Tymon against St Judes. Conor Deasy was in fine form. A brilliant turnout on Sunday morning for our Annual Nursery Hurling Blitz made the tennis courts the place to be. Pure Mule! Congrats to Club man Declan Hannigan who scooped the top lotto prize of 5,400 in the Carpenter. Thursday’s draw will be in the Bell. Hard luck to Dublin Ladies in All-Ireland Semi-Final. Juvenile meeting 9pm sharp on Thursday. Team of the week are the U15 boys who beat St. Olafs away in hurling on Thursday and on Sunday they toppled visitors Parnells in the football league. Both our u12 and u11 hurlers lost in their Camaint finals. Hard luck boys. The u13 hurlers had a good championship victory over Fingallians, but the u12 hurling team lost by a point to Faughs. Three u9 hurling groups played Clontarf in St.Annes on Saturday morning and the Sunday morning hurling on the tennis courts was packed! The minor footballers overcame visitors Na Fianna 2.14 to 2.12 and the Adults beat Starlights in a friendly. Great wins for the minor girls over Lucan and the u16s over Ballinteer. The u10s beat Crokes by a point. Our Junior hurlers and footballers are in contention at the business end of the Championship and League so let’s get behind them! Castleknock Hurling & Football Club extends its deepest sympathies to the Stephen, Karen and the Comiskey Family of Woodpark Castleknock on the death of Stephen’s father. Club Notes: 29 Aug – 4 Sept 2005
The junior ‘A’ team recorded another fine league victory, this time over Ballyboden St.Endas. Ballyboden were also our visitors on Sunday morning to beautiful Porterstown for some under 10 hurling. Next weekend our under 12’A’s and two under 11 teams will take part in the finals of the Camaint tournament. The last of our four very successful summer camps ended last week. Well done to all concerned. We wish coach Gavin Dolan all the best in his new appointment and thank him for his great years work.
Congratulations to the Dublin under 14 hurling team and particularly Joey O’Callaghan and James Martin who won their division of the All Ireland tournament in Waterford, beating Offaly in the final. Well done to the Dublin Ladies on their convincing win over Tyrone. Commiserations to the Senior footballers but thanks for a great year.
There is a juvenile meeting on at nine pm sharp this Thursday. Executive meeting next Monday. There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw which was held in Myo’s.This Thursday’s draw will be held in Brady’s with a top prize of five thousand two hundred euro. All juvenile mentors are expected to attend the next meeting this Thursday at 9.00pm sharp.

There was no winner of last week’s lotto, which was in The Bell. This Thursdays draw will be held in Myo’s. The junior hurlers had a good win over visitors St Vincent’s and the footballers played a friendly away to Ballyfermot D.L.S. The U12A hurlers showed some style in beating Kilmacud Crokes and the under 15 hurlers recorded another victory to stay top of the league. The U9’s lost to Na Fianna in the final of Erins Isle’s Joe Mooney football tournament and the U10’s lost to Killoe Emmett’s after a superb week-ends football. The last of the summers hurling camps ended last Friday. Thanks to all concerned on another successful week. The final football camp is now in progress. Many thanks to all the parents and mentors involved in the football blitz, which ended on Saturday. Commiserations to the Dublin minor hurling team who lost to Limerick in the All Ireland semi-final. The best of luck to the senior footballers in their replay against Tyrone. The club has two representatives on the under 14 Dublin hurling panel going to Waterford next week-end (27th Aug) to participate in the Tony Forrestel tournament. Best of luck to Joseph O’ Callaghan and James Martin and the rest of the panel for a succesful tournament.

The second round of Summer Camps are beginning next Monday, 15 August, with hurling taking centre stage. Club Lotto wasn’t won last Thursday in Brady’s. Next week’s lotto takes place in the Carpenter. Jackpot €4,600. Best of luck to the Dubs on Saturday.
Club Notes 18th – 24th July 2005
Well done to all involved with the Junior footballers who came away with a hard fought victory over Fingal Ravens in the Championship to secure a place in the semi-final. Our first Football Summer Camp overall was a huge success with almost 150 boys and girls developing their skills. It ended on Friday with a visit from members of victorious Dublin Senior Football team and the Delaney Cup. Thanks to Bryan Cullen and Alan Brogan who spent a huge amount of time signing autographs and getting their photos taken with each group within the camp. Thanks also to GAA Stars Dessie Dolan and Brian Talty who also paid the Summer Camp a visit. Remember the next camps which will be held on the 15th and 22nd August respectively. Our U12 Camaint teams were hosts to Setanta, and Scoil Ui Connail in Porterstown winning both games comfortably. CHFC Golf Society outing next Bank-Holiday Monday in Stillogue Golf Course. Club Notes 11th – 17th July 2005
Junior hurlers are on top of their championship group after 2 hard fought victories over Cuala and O’Dwyers. The Junior footballers are playing Fingal Ravens in the Championship in The Naul (Clan Mhuire grounds) on Sunday next at 11 am. All support welcome. The U12 hurlers made up of ‘A’ and ‘B’ players did well in The Erin’s Isle “Kavlan-Cup”. They beat Kilmacud Crokes, Peregrines, Vincents and Na Fianna, before getting beaten by Ballyboden St. Endas. They beat Sarsfields of Antrim to get third place. The Football Summer Camp is in full swing –all going well. No winner of weekly Lotto draw held in The Carpenter.
