Castleknock Cúl Camp Round Up - A Final Word
14/7/2023
Well, we survived!!!
I am so disappointed that our camp had to end with a day like today, it is so unfortunate that we didn’t get to spend our final day outside doing what we do best. I hope the kids who attended weren’t too disappointed. I know the 2015s,2016s & 2017s were happy out with their disco dance party anyway!
Thanks to those who braved the conditions with their brilliant fancy dress costumes!!!! I think the 2013 & 2014 boys would have happily stayed out hurling till now had I let them, maithu lads!
I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and generous feedback over the course of the last two weeks & the support they have shown myself and the team throughout. I hope that we provided 2 fun & learning filled weeks to all who attended.
As you can imagine, the logistics of organising and coordinating 300 children of various age groups can be extremely challenging, but I hope the kids enjoyed the new format I tried to implement with different plans, workshops & themed days that were specifically tailored to each age groups demands/skill levels.
None of the above would have been possible without our wonderful coaches and helpers. We had a mix of experienced & new staff this week, and I am sure you can appreciate that it can be quite daunting for a lot of these young adolescents & teenagers, especially those new to camps. From my perspective, you performed credibly, it is a learning curve & we will strive to achieve high standards with every camp we do. Thank you & well done, I am proud of you all.
I made a lot of changes to previous camp formats & I hope they were beneficial to all attendees – I already have plans for our nursery & club camps in August; hopefully the weather will be more kind to us!
On that note, I will be releasing more spaces for these camps next week, I will notify you all through your teams parent WhatsApp groups.
For those older players or those of you with older children (12+) in the club, don’t forget that I will be hosting our Ultimate Skills Camp in August, with intercounty footballers/hurlers/camogie players & coaches from all around the country who have coached & played at the highest level.
This will be ground breaking for the club.
Thank you once again – I look forward to seeing you over the summer.
