Junior A Football vs Colmcilles
Sun, 11th September 2005
Result: 1-8 to 2-5
Castleknock Junior Footballers earned a hard fought point away to St. Colmcilles in Swords on Saturday evening last. The match only went ahead with the late arrival of a stand-in referee who was busy throughout awarding 3 penalties and cautioning several players for strong challenges. With many of the Knock forwards off target in front of the posts it was always going to be a close contest thanks to a solid defence led by Denis Lally and Brian Kelly.
Cilles scored 1-1 from their two penalties while the Knock missed keeping the travelling faithful on edge. Gerry Kelly, John Greene and Eoghan O’Callaghan were subjected to special treatment during the course of this tough physical battle and hopefully the lads will recover in time for the upcoming championship semi-final. A Barry Farrelly point effort late on in the second half just dropped in the net bringing the Knock back into the game. It looked like being one of those frustrating days right up to the last seconds when Paddy Molloy stepped up and converted a free to tie the game and keep the Knock at the top of Division 7.
