Junior B Football vs Fingallians

Sun, 26th March 2006

Result: 02-10 to 01-05

Castleknock got off to a winning start in Division 11 with a convincing away win in Swords against Fingallians.

Danny Stewart captained the Knock who gave debuts to fullback Niall Harrison, midfielder Damian O’Grady and full-forward James O’Connor. Many chances were wasted early on by Fingallians with Kieran Duff surprisingly off target with his free kicks. Up the other end, Niall Tutty slotted over a couple along with one from play to leave the sides 0-6 to 0-1 at half time. However the half time talk spirited the Fins as they burst through at the start of the second half finishing to the net.

Castleknock responded with a couple of points before escaping when Duffer tried to copy Mossy Quinn’s effort on Saturday but this one sailed over the bar. Within minutes Castleknock moved quickly up the pitch through Griffin, space opened up and Damian O’Grady passed into the full forward line for Tutty to beat his man and the keeper to give the Knock some breathing space.

Substitute Stephen Keoghan sealed the victory with a low shot to the net after another fine end to end move with the ever brave Mick Geaney, dominant John Mac and accurate Cathal Gallagher involved. It was a heartening performance from the Silver Badger’s troops and a vital first step on the path to a good league run.
